Education combined with legislation is the answer. No more chained or penned dogs for life!
We need to be a voice for chained and penned dogs, whose days become years living all alone. Many of these dogs sit, lay, eat and defecate within a 10-foot radius. Chained by the neck or in a pen out back, they exist without respect, love, exercise and social interaction and sometimes even without basic nourishment. Would you for a second choose to live the life of these dogs? No matter what reason is given, the bottom line is that it is NOT ok to chain a dog for life. They DESERVE BETTER and we as caretakers have the obligation to provide for them. Please consider today how you can help the dogs in your neighbourhood.
PET Projects strongly encourages you reading this today to help a forgotten chained or penned dog. Dogs not only need food, clean water and shelter, they need interaction, exercise and love. Unfortunately, in Nova Scotia there are still no laws against chaining or penning dogs for life. Yet chained/penned dogs is the #1 cruelty complaint. So why no laws even though we know it's neglect and inhumane treatment? The laws have yet to catch up with our thinking. Together, let's help these forgotten souls, get laws passed and make a real difference...because dogs deserve better.
Tell your Municipal Councillor you want anti-tethering by-laws!
